Category 2G for zone 1

Category 2G for zone 1

The occasional presence of an explosive atmosphere is classified as Zone 1. The requirements for fans are higher than for Zone 2. For Zone 1, the fan must not contain any sources of possible ignition both in normal operation and in the case of foreseeable common disturbances. The permissible material pairings are further restricted here compared to category 3 and for the motor at least one Ex e-motor of category 2G is to be used.

This type of fan is often used for the extraction of methane (biogas) or natural gas as well as in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry. The combination with a pressure-resistant housing design is optional.

A gas-tight housing design is often specified in Zone 1 (e.g. gas-tight according to ISO13349 Cat. H1).
