History

Our exciting history begins in 1900. After almost a century and in the course of strategic succession planning, we became part of the Witt & Sohn AG fan group from Pinneberg, Germany in 1997. It weas an important step towards further internationalisation as well as an economically sound decision harness synergies.


1900

Foundation of the Meidinger company by Dipl.Ing. Georg Meidinger for the production of electric motors and drives.

1905

Product expansion to fans, incl. our own electric motors

1907

Development of exceptionally quiet running organ fans, production and worldwide delivery until 2001


1927

Opening of the subsidiary in Alsace (St. Louis) near the border to open up the French market.

1956

Foundation of the plastics department by Dipl.Ing.Georges Meidinger (son). It was able to meet the chemical industry’s need for acid-resistant equipment and systems as it manufactured acid-resistant plastic fans for the Basel chemical industry.

1972

Management in 3rd generation by Dipl. Ing. Urs-Peter Meidinger, Peter Gyssler-Meidinger and Christian Meidinger


1987

Meidinger to be converted into a stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft)

1989

Concentration on fans as core business and evolution into a leading supplier of industrial and special fans

1992

Relocation from Maiengasse in Basel to Allschwil/Baselland; development of centrifugal fans for explosive media, and product expansion.


1996

“Innovationspreis Beider Basel” innovation award for Zone 0 fans 

1997

Acquisition of Meidinger AG by the Witt & Sohn AG fan group from Pinneberg, Germany in the course of succession planning, further internationalisation and use of synergies.
Termination of motor production.

2000

100-year anniversary in Allschwil


2001

Biogas fans and support air blowers for biogas storage tanks according to ATEX

2003

Sales and engineering of Witt tunnel fans in Switzerland

2005

Product expansion to fans with pressure-resistant and pressure-shock-resistant casings in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive PED


2009

Relocation from Allschwil/BL to Kaiseraugst/AG

2010

Open house in Kaiseraugst

2013

Fans and filters for the food industry, hygienic design, EHEDG membership
