Casing insulation on the fan or free-standing as sound and/or heat insulation.

Temperature
In the case of hot (>70°C) or very cold (< -20°C) media, casing insulation is available to prevent energy loss or as protection against contact for safety reasons. This measure is often supplemented by the use of shaft material with low thermal conductivity and the use of a thermal barrier..

Sound 
Sound enclosures are available for further sound insulation.

Can be used on the suction or pressure side of the fan to attenuate the sound emission in the delivery duct.

Designs
We generally distinguish between

• Circular silencers with and without core
  Advantage: compact design, pressure stable
• Splitter silencers
  Advantage: high insertion loss, low pressure loss, easy to clean
• Special designs for confined spaces

Fan design
With the fan design, the sound emission in the duct can be estimated for the respective operating point. The required silencers are designed on the basis of these values.
